NP231 Question

When I shift into 4 hi, it stays engaged for a little while then it slips out making a beautiful grinding noise. Doesn't happen in 4 lo, is there a way to adjust it? In a 93 XJ. Thanks

yes, search for transfer case linkage.
basically you put it 4lo, then crawl under and adjust it until the transfer case shift fork is in the proper position. Make sur eyou get under there with some penetrating oil the day before you try it, lot's of road nasty in there. You'll also want to check the bushings.
