Hardware help....

Jump This

Just another minion!
I ended up with some killer axels for my 44. Its good to have friends!! ;D
But....I need some wheel studs, some nuts (I didn't say balls damn it!) and other misc. hardware. My local NAPA is about worthless when it comes to helping me out finding this kinda' stuff.
The local hardware store, although an awsome organization, takes too long to stock specialty items for me.
So....
Where can I go to oreder this stuff on-line?
Another question....with my Alloy USA axels, I need the threaded wheel studs, what do you guys who beat the shit out of your rigs run? Brand or grade, type etc.
Thanks

Rick,

Give alloy USA a call. They will send you a set of wheel studs. I dont remember the price but they will get them to your postal kiosk quick.

and when you get the new studs, make sure your lug nutz will still fit. :)

"my studs were too long to fit my nutz on"

When I had to get new studs, I took one of my alloy shafts into Hub Auto Parts in Costa Mesa. We looked in the Dorman catalog and tried several different ones until we found one with the correct knurl diameter and length.

Sorry Rick, I know this is useless info for you. I guess I'm just saying that any decent independent parts store should be able to help you out. Go back to NAPA and ask to see their Dorman catalog.

It would help if you know the length you need and size of the threads beforehand. Then it would be easy to find to right studs.

your axles didnt come with the studs? that bites.

Call alloy-usa, they are pretty good about getting you the hardware you need.

I found the studs!!
When the box was taped closed, somehow the bag
got taped to the box end! :dunno:
Couldn't see them because the paper covering
the axel end got taped in there too!!
Now all I need are nuts!Keep your smart arse comments to yourself! :D
(I'll wait until I install the drums to measure, I'd like to run acorn
type nuts, to protect the threads! But I'm not sure if they
will clear.
I will SOON have my 44 installed!
(wait a second....I have had enough  to last until....well...
this next weekend!)

Don't think that didn't cross my mind.
As a matter of fact....I was having a bitch of a time
rebuilding the brakes for the 44.....I fought the bastard
and was ready to toss it out the garage door when
I noticed....I had forgotten to install the exstenders
on the wheel cylenders...my brain just hasn't
been working up to par the last few days....:confused1
I wonder if a bit of the 'hair of the dog' might help?

I hate it when that happens.... by the way the thread pitch on your studs is 1/2"-20. You should get some acorn nuts for your wheels... Another note... I use ARP wheel studs on my rig and DON'T beat the tar out of it...

Sure you don't! MY local NAPA is so lame...I'm just going to cut the ends off of the acorn nuts I already have (studs are too long) then find some at ABABA Bolt.
