What causes the small hose going from the pressure bottle to the thermostat to get so hot you can't hold onto it, but the top radiator hose you can hold on to with out any problem? '87 4.0

Thanks I wondered that but was wanting another opinion before I spent money on another thermostat.

Before you replace the thermostat, search for 5-90's writeup on drilling the thermostat. It will help the engine purge air much better.
