D35 or 8.25 or WTF

I am confused as all hell. My rear axle looks like it has a D35 cover, no rolled lip, large bulge in center, but it also has the square bottom shape axle housing typical of a Chrysler 8.25. Also have spotted a Chrysler-esque pentagram stamping mark. Could some previous owner have put a D35 diff cover onto an Chrysler 8.25?? Looking to buy a powertrax or no slip for whatever damn axle it is.

The D35 cover won't fit. It may be a cover from another 8.25?

a lot of ford 9 inches have a similar shape and look to a dana 35, but I haven't seen one with a square lip

You can also take off a hubcap or wheel, and look at the depression in the end of the axle shaft. The Danas have a sort of figure-eight shape, pinched in the middle, while the Chrysler has straight sides and rounded ends.
