From disco to non-disco

I probibly already know the answer (It can be done) but just checking to make sure. I have an 87 XJ with a d30 disco and bought a HP d30 non-disco out of an 86 XJ. Is it the same as the newer d30's? I want to get rid of the cv axle shafts and goto a U-joint shaft. I've found everything in the world for 87 + XJ's but nothing for the pre 87's.

Should as easy as pulling ou the cy shafts and repalce with u joint axle shafts....

yes.. direct swap to u-joint shafts.
