Can i run a RE 4.5 on 33's without a sye I have a 88 and it has a 3.5" on it right now with a T-case drop?

yea you can do it. but its not great. youll probably need a small shim

What do you mean by not great? will there be alot of vibration or will I eventually need to get the sye down the road to avoid breakage?

i didnt realize i was talking to the same person, i say not great, bc its not as good as a fixed output, HD or not. the slip yoke style sucks.... it will work tho. ive seen older jeeps run 6" with TC lowering and shims, but I wouldnt do it

What is the bad thing about running it with shims? by that i mean does it damage the vehicle at all? or is it just weak when wheeling?

I got 4.5" and have been running it for 4 years and no vibes. only a t-case drop and no shims

I run a RE 4.5" i have small vibrations no t-case drop nothin. Ive had to replace u-joints a couple times a year but it works.

With that year and lift you have a good chance you won't need a SYE with the TCase drop and maybe a 6 or 7* shim but I would plan the $$$ in the budget for one just in case. IF not then spend that money on someother goodies.

Some need it and some don't. It is a hit or miss thing sometimes. I would invest into one in the future if your budget allows for it.

try it and see what happens. i run much more lift than that on my 87 with no sye and no shims, and never had any vibes at all.

Im thinking of a 3.5 for my DD, what kit do you have now, and how do you like it?

i have 5'' in my 90 with rustys trans drop kit and no shims. i get no vibes but do have to change joints couple times year
