quick engine rebuild question

Whats the average machining cost when doing a rebuilt, decking, boring, porting intake, ect. I would like to do a stroker this summer and just getting an idea of the cost, already know what the parts cost. I relaize it probaby depends on how mild you wnat to go but I'm lloking for what I need to make it a reliable medium build. TIA

I spent $1200 in parts and machine work and assembled it myself. That included pistons, bearing, boring and cleaning the block and all the gaskets etc. I didn't need to have the block decked or the head shaved just a valve job. Subtract your parts cost and see whats left over. Sorry I don't have it broken down for you but htis should give you an idea. Also I traded my 4.0 rods and crank for those of a 258, even swap.

anyone else with the decking/shaving. even an estimate is fine. $800?
