By adding or subtracting shims. I picked up several at my local salvage yard to use on the rear hatch on my '88. Assuming your '94 is the same (I believe the rear hatch was resesigned in '96 or '97) you add shims under the hinge untill you get it to close correctly. If you are planning to replace the gasket, do so before making any adjustments by shimming the hinges, or you may have to readjust after replacing the gasket. Good Luck
