? about MJ rear recovery points

Being that the MJ has a frame in the rear, would it be possible to mount tow hooks directly to the frame? I was going to run a piece of steel inside the frame rail and then bolt the hook through it and the frame rail. Will this work?

it's a frame, but it still isn't real thick. it would probably work fine, but a flying tow-hook isn't worth a probably.

Why not just put a class III hitch on and put a hook or D-ring in that?

For departure angles and such. I have one, and it drags ass on alot of stuff. Some people perfer not to use one, I don't mind.

I did it on my MJ, and I put a piece of ~3/16 +/- inside the frame rail. It worked fine, didn't appear to be ripping out ever.

although if I still had it I would bob the bed!
