There's a new book out about the Jeep Cherokee and I think all of you would enjoy it very much, especially since it features several XJs from NAXJA and there were many people here who contributed directly, photos or information. And NAXJA as a whole for the information and experiences I've gained over the years from even before I signed on as an official member. :)

Interesting. Seems that it might overlap slightly with some projects I've got going (I've got the Jeep I6 Power Manual, and I'm working on an XJ/MJ tech guide and a "junkyard warrior's guide,") but I think this will complement, rather than compete - I'll go ahead with my projects as well.

I just might have to get a copy, so I don't end up reinventing the wheel...

Oh wow... and I didn't know you were working on some books either! I'll definitely buy your I6 Power Manual (reference/Tech manuals are always good to have).

Also, I'm sending you a PM. :)

Preordered it yesterday - looking forward to getting it (in about six weeks... I guess they have to print copies as well! Nice thing I do small print runs...)

:) Just FYI - if you order from the publisher (CarTech) it will be shipped to you immediately. If you order from somewhere else like Amazon.com, they appear to still be on pre-order which means you will wait - the good thing is they have a nice discount.

Figures.

Well, good thing I'm in no huge hurry - I've got other things I've got to get done all the time anyhow! The discount helps - it covered shipping. Still cheaper than waiting for it to come out locally, and paying full price + "der Kommisar's" share tho...

I just ordered one and can't wait to see different things that might help in building my 96.

I just ordered this directly as well and am excited to read it. Having picked up my first Jeep last november, I've become more interested in trying to understand the basics behind how everything works and can't wait to lift my XJ and go off roading. :-)

Btw, I want that AEV bumper tire rack you have on ur XJ Eric so bad, it's so sexy!

Amazon update - I've been informed that I should expect my book Friday next or the following Monday. So, it seems to be a bit quicker now. Not as quick as direct - but it costs me a little less, and Eric still gets his dosh...

Thanks for the update. I was not aware that they moved forward their release date and checking amazon.com now shows a date of June 14th, instead of June 30th. That's good news!

Yeah - I should get it on my wife's birthday (the 16th,) or the following Monday, according to them.

Got mine on the 17th. At first perusal, it would seem to be well-written and informative, and the only limitation I see is the silly, arbitrary 144-page limit they saddled Eric with. Bugger.

On the upside, it should not conflict with anything I'm working, so adding it to your bookshelf would be a good idea. Having your work published by someone else has its ups and downs - I self-publish so I can maintain creative control (even though it makes my market effectively smaller...)

Still, definitely worth the money!

Yep, that is so true. They want them to be 144 pages, not 143 and not 145. They also do the layout, so when I first saw it before it went to print, there were some serious boo-boos that needed fixing. Thats tough because at that point you are really restricted if you try and re-arrainge or add stuff without having to delete something. :banghead: They got all the serious changes done to my liking but in the process, there were 3 or 4 small minor typos I've found that weren't there before. No problem though because they can be fixed in the next printing. All in all I am pleased with it and am glad so many people have told me they like it too! :)

I just received it and it was everything I hoped it was. It has already answered a question that was bothering me. I purchased it from Jeg's and got it in only a week.

I got this book for my 21st birthday. I have only had a chance to glance through it, but I think it is going to be my new bible.

Got mine about a month ago and just purchased a 95 XJ Sport- bone stock. This book has answered a majority of my questions and is uber helpful with stock specifications. Great pics, great layout, and awesome story line behind the making of the book. Anyone that owns an XJ should have this book as it is a piece of history in the making. I have XJ books from places around the world and they are usually off on something or another, but not Eric's book. Great job and keep up the good work- I'm looking forward to Volume 2 if it is even in the works!!!

If you've got a list of the XJ/MJ books you have, I'd apprecate it! I'd like to make sure I'm not "reinventing the wheel" with anything I'm working on - especially with the next two I've got in mind!

I got my copy this morning from the friendly UPS guy (actually, saw him at the gas station, and he yelled "hey, want your stuff?").

Your book is excellent, a wonderful primer packed with information that covers the XJ from bumper to bumper. I wish I had access to this 2 years ago when I got my XJ. Would have saved me a few bucks. :) Even after spending countless hours reading info on websites and on NAXJA, I still picked up a few things from your book. Good work on the book!

Hey thanks.

I notice someone moved this thread to "Non-Jeeps Items". Maybe a mistake or do they really consider this not Jeep related? :dunno:
