Im about to relocate spring perches and shock mount on D44. I want to know if there is a problem if i weld those pieces when all the carrier and axles bearings are installed. Im using a stick welder. Im concerned about a jumping arc in the bearings.

thanks ;)

Electricity follows the "path" of least resistance. Make sure you attach the ground cable near area to be welded and that you have a good connection. This will insure the shortest "path" does not include the bearings.

Just do short quick welds so you don't put too much heat into the axle bearings. Like, weld an inch, let it cool, weld and inch, cool, etc. The tube is pretty thick and should carry heat away pretty fast.

where the perches are, there isnt going to be enough heat conduction to the bearings,

Dont put the electrode on the pinion or axle shaft and you will be fine
