Drove back home 2 hours from orlando and made it home fine
let the jeep sit for 30 min or so, drove about 8 min and it did a quick short sputter then died

I checked the fuses and relays, they are fine
i can hear the fuel pump turn on, so i "asume" its fine

had the jeep about a month and the cap and rotor were about to be replaced anyway so im going to pick up a set with wires and plugs today

the only other things i can think of are the CPS, which i dont know how to "check"
and the fuel filter, which i hope is cheap and easy to get to ...hopefully external because i have over half a tank left lol

so how can i check the CPS, and is it easy to get to the fuel filter?

Thanks

PS.
considering these last few weeks its taken longer and longer to turn over, would it be likely thats its the cap/rotor?

or even if i hear the fuel pump turn on.. its posible its bad?

Fuel filter is mounted right above the rear axle. Easy to get to and replace.

One easy check to see if it's fuel or ignition is to spray some starter fluid (can buy at any auto parts store) in the breather while someone cranks the engine. If it's a fuel related problem, it will start and run for a few seconds.

Wow, well that had to be the easiest most simple vehicle problem ive had, lol
the wire from the coil to the distributor was burnt in half lol
