4.0L manual or auto transmission compatability?

I'm wondering what modifications might be necessary to a 4.0L from a wrecked, automatic equipped Cherokee that we want to put into a 5 speed Comanche? Will I have to install a pilot bearing?

What about going the other way, can a 4.0L from a 5 speed equipped vehicle be used with an automatic without modifications?

Any advice?

Remove the pilot bushing to go from stick to auto - install to go from auto to stick.

Change the drive plate to fit up with whatever you're installing (auto = flexplate, stick = flywheel.)

I gotta admit - I'm being nice. I just went through this with someone else here about six hours ago - and, to use an already overused phrase, "The search button is your friend..."

Sorry - but I do tire of repeating myself. I do try to be civil, tho.
