I was wondering how well hardened outer shafts hold up with chromoly inners and spicer joints and 35" tires locked front Dana 30?

you mean chromo?
chromo inners and outers with spicer joints work well together. the weak point is the needle bearings which will crush and possibly lead to other failures, so best to replace them occasionally.

Well i called randy's ring and pinion they said they can get hardened outers which are 30% stronger than stock I was wondering if anybody has actually run this and if it was worth buying for 100 dollars cheaper than all chromo's

why would you want the outer shafts to be weaker than the inners? if you're spending the money already, just get all chromo.

I had the "hardened" outers from Randys, they didn't last long, so I returned them for the 4340 shafts and have had zero problems. Besides the 4340 parts should have a 5 year warranty.
