Bending Back Metal

i bent the metal inwards on my c4x4 front winch bumper at the point where the fairlead would attach to the bumper. my question is, would heating the metal with a torch and taking a hammer and pliers be the best route to take to bend the metal back? its way too tough to bend it back with just hitting it with a BFH. thanks for any input.
