4L pops out or doesnt go in?

My 96 doesnt want to go to 4L and when it does it will pop out when i try to drive. i was told it could be a linkage problem but dont know where to start looking. Any ideas??? also if anyone can let me know of a good clutch to put in my xj, was thinking centerforce but not sure which one?

have you had the TC lowered now or at anytime? any lift? linkage is underneath. the aduster bolt on it is a 13mm. make sure it is secured. take a minute to look athe linkage and figure out how it works, then make an attempt to adjust so it pushes the rod back far enough for 4L to stay engaged.

Only one rod and one adjustment, you should be able to figger it out.

thanks i will look at that and i got the truck with a 2" superlift sounds simple to ajust.
