Transmission pan wont come off

whats up guys...my first post. anyway, I'm trying to get my transmission pan off but the fluid fill tube wont let me. Any suggestions.......does the filler tube come off?.......Please help.......Thanks..Sorry didnt see the post below about the same thing im trying to do....Its early

What I did way back when on my rusty 87 was to take it out in one piece and separate it later, because it was a little tricky to feed it back up in one piece. It will be easier if you're on a lift or a high set of ramps. Once it's out and on the bench or wherever, it's much easier to twist it apart. It's just a tight fit with an O-ring. Mine did not leak after reassembly. The O-ring is placed high enough to be above the fluid level.
