I've been wanting to make a trip to see some friends in Juneau, and i want to drive there. ive been told that the only way in is by boat or plane.

i dont care if it takes a week of old forest roads; there has to be some way to get there.

wouln't mind bringing other people along either, if you are interested.

does anyone know if there is a way?
how long it might take?
what type/difficulty of terrain to cross?

It appears to be surrounded by the Tongass National Forest, a dedicated road less area. Do a search for the Juneau Access Road and you'll see that this is a hot button of argument up there.

You can get to Skagway by road....that's like doing 99.5% of the trip by road. Not too bad.....

Have you ever been to Skagway? :) I was there on my Honeymoon. It is a TOTAL tourist/ old time gold town. Population 400 and when the cruiseships are in town 10,400 and that is not a misprint. There is a cool Narrow Gauge Train ride up to White Pass and back.

It would be a cool stop when the cruiseships weren't in town
