No need to adjsut pinion depth if not changing gears?

I am installing a full carrier detroit in my D35. Reading around it seems as if I dont need to play with pinion depth. Is this right?? I can get a good pattern and backlash without adjust pinion depth. Or is it just a luck thing?

Im staying with my 4.10s and not touching them.

while you are in thiere check the bearings for wear


but you will have to check the BL prolly..just make sure and run a pattern and make sure it looks good..

Check and record the backlash before you take it apart...set the backlash the same with the new carrier...done.
