Year and model selection?

I am currently looking for a Xj 4.0l 5-speed 4x4. I was wondering if anyone from past vehicle ownership had any advice on what year model or anything thing else specific about purchasing one?

Depends on several variables, how deep your pockets are, what options you want, etc. I'm really happy with my 98 4.0, 5speed. I don't like power accys, just more to fix. Personally I'd buy the newest with the options I wanted and could afford...wish I had the money to buy one now and put it in a garage for a few years but I also wish I had a garage too....not gonna happen with 2 kids and the wife all in college...
