front brake upgrades?

would it be worth swapping the entire knuckle/rotor/caliper assembly from a 97 XJ onto the 94 D30 installe din my 90 XJ? (did you follow that?) as it is now the brakes are marginal and definately need some upgrading. would this be a beneficial swap or is my problem really the stock master cylinder? are the 97 brakes the same or better than what i already have? i need to search but i remember some info about a Ford van MC swap.

The problem is more the power booster than anything else - start with swapping out the dual diaphragm booster from a 97+, and you should note a significant change.

Early XJ's are notoriously under-braked...

Brakes and master are the same so no advantage there from 91 on. 95+ booster as mentioned is a good idea and there is a good write up on it here. www.madxj.com
