steering column woes

so my ignition has loosened up over the years, enough to be able to remove the key all the time. its been locking the keys in unless i jiggle the shifter while in park. Now when i go to start it in the morning, i have to do some shifter/steering wheel jiggling to get the starter to turn. that and lots of repeat tries.

is it something loose in the column, the groung on the starter itself, or the linkage for the gear selector?
