How to prime the Diesel Fuel system 86 XJ

Looking for info on how to prime the fuel system on my 86 XJ with the 2.1L Renault Turbo Diesel. I rebuilt the engine and put it all back together, but can't get the system primed. Can find it in the manual either. Please help.....

did you remember to fill the filter up first? Usually with them you need to prime the fuel filter also just by simply filling up the filter with fuel kinda like the oil
