ANy compatability issues with putting a '93 AW4 into a '99, even if the '99 is RHD?

yes, the plugs to the TCU are different and will require a bunch of splicing. Also, the speed sensor in the tranny is different, and some have had to swap it, some have not... no good explanation there.
your best bet is to keep the following years together: 87-90, 91-96, 97-2001

What are the plugs to on the tranny end? Would it be a matter of removing the sensor or wiring from the tranny end and reusing what's already on the '99?

I think I read the splines going into the transfer case were changed at some point also.
