Headlight switch interchange?

Does the headlight switch from a 87 XJ interchange with one from a 89XJ? In my 89 the dimmer portion no longer works and wondered if I could switch it in from my 87.......not the easiest piece to get to

It is the same switch from 84-91 but 92-96 might work also.

I don't think so. I went through this at the wrecking yard last month. Spent some time pulling one from a sweet 94 only to be disappointed that the switch looked different. I went and pulled one from 90 XJ to match my 90 XJ.

I never checked the plugs to see if they fit but the socket did look slightly different.

Mission accomplished.............87 & 89 are the same.
