OK to submurge my winch?

My Warn M8000 came in the mail yesterday. I was reading through the booklit and it specifically says not to submurge the solinoid pack. Anybody with any real world experience here? Will water hurt my winch?

I'll be mounted on an ARB bumper. Would it be a better idea to mount the solinoid pack in maybe the engine bay or in the cabin?

just messing with yah man, yes its fine, let it air ot when your done though.

In AK I used to take the top cover off my xd9i and let it air in the garage after trips to prolong life.

I've used mine submerged it still works.

most people mount the solenoid box under the hood to keep it out of the elemets. i would try not to submerge that part.

but the winch itself being submerged should not be a problem.
