Hey,

'88 XJ Cherokee Laredo 4.0L Auto.

If I switch on the heater but leave the blower off I notice a voltage drop on the battery volt meter. Is the Heater Valve still being energized or something else? Is this normal?

Thx, Phil :)

If you move the switch to MAX, BI-LEVEL, or that other one, then yes, that is normal cause your kicking on your AC Compressor. This also occurs when you use the defrost setting.

You should not see a voltage drop with the fan off and the switch on HEAT

Also if you have the fan off, might as well move the switch to off too, makes sense to me.

edit. reareading original post more carefully. Voltage drop when fan is turned on high is normal (just a voltmeter anomaly). But I don't know whether it will do this when you turn the fan off. But before you worry, test the voltage at the battery.
