Just wanted to suggest checking the slack in the timing chain if you're experiencing the all to common rough idle/miss.Mine was missing at idle and up to 1800 rpm.
Once I took my old motor out(170,000 miles) I noticed that the timing chain was shot which allowed 1/4" play in relation between the cam sprocket and crank sprocket!!These 4 liter's don't have a chain tension-er like the 2.5's do so I think when the chain gets a lot of miles on them the reek havoc on performance.
I think it's kind of weird that no one on here really (I didn't say never) has a idle issue with the 4 banger....maybe the chain tensioner helps?I mean if you do a search on here about rough idle/stumble they're mostly 4.0's.What do you guys think?
I might be opening my self up to be flamed on this....but oh well.
