xj radiator conversion

I'm ready to install '92 rad in my '87 4.0L Cherokee but I'm stopped at the transmission line cooling fittings. The bottom line fitting is straight forward with connections matching, but the top line fitting is different. I read Bob Mock's article on rad conversion and I should be able to use original plumbing from '87 rad. Can I remove '87 and '92 plumbing by just unscrewing with pipe wrench? Are they welded or sealed in? I tried to unscrew the lock nut on the '87 rad with a crescent wrench but it doesn't move. Is it welded or just tightly fitted?

Thank you for your reply LiL XJ. I just found out that jeep made a radiator change in '88 and I have an '87 which is why I'm having fitting problems. I'll have to match up the fittings to adapt.
