Removing Trip meter post

I've got the dash cluster out of the MJ. I figured while I had it out cleaning electrical connections I could clean up all the dust and dirt from inside the clear plastic. I can't get the clear plastic off without taking out the trip meter reset post. How does it come out? I tried unscrewing it, It feels like it's held in with a c-clip behind the speedo. Who's done this before?
THanks
87 MJ, 4.0 full gauge cluster.

The little rubber stopper on the end of it pulls off. You don't have to remove the whole post, just hold onto it and pull the rubber thing off. Hope it helps.

yeah, thanks for the reply. I was just coming back to say I figured it out.
I suppose sometimes the simple things escape me.
