my friend has a 80 something xj and some how he is getting tranny fluid in his radiator does any one know what could cause that and how to fix it?

First off, how do you know?
There is a tranny cooler mounted in the raditor. If it is leaking,you need to get it fixed yesterday. Getting anitfreeze mixed with trany fluid in the tranny is a major fubar event. Pull the radiator and take it to a radiator shop or simply get a new radiator.

if it has the internal tranny fluid cooler in the radiator, there must be a leak... possibly put on an aftermarket cooler and flush the coolant system..?

I would also suggest a transmision flush, and not to drive it till it's been done. Water (coolant) and tranneys don't mix.
