rear pinion oil level

I just drained the rear axle gear oil and I think I put to much oil in..
I had the diff cover off along with the axle and I just poured a bunch in there..
so when I put the axle back on.. well I opened the fill plug and it came poring out....
so that drained to the top of the plug hole
now it seems like the oil is drippin out of the axle seals on the D44 ..as in the hub sides..

so basically does the fliud sit in any level in the tubes and lube the axle bearings??

or should it be filled to to a point just below the axle tubes..??

thanx

Yes up to the fill hole, but there are also axle seals to keep oil off your brakes.

You may not have both seals but you will have the outer ones.
