I need to replace my shift gate and I noticed that it won't fit to slip off the shift handle. Is there an easy way to do it without taking apart more than necessary?

Year, model, tranny might help for us to know..

A hard upward yank on the handle will pop it off. If possible get both hands under it and try for a little upward impact.

Are you saying that the rubber handle on the shifter can be pulled off ?
I tried, I guess not hard enough.

Shift gate for what? T-case or Transmission?
If the t-case it's easier to change the whole thing.
At the base of the T-Case rod theres a c-clip that holds it in place.

T-Case. I have the gate, it would be very hard to find the whole thing.
All that stands in the way is the rubber on the shifter.

Ok then I told you how to do it. Pull the hairpin clip down in the shifter and slide the rod and handle out.

Sorry, I thought you needed to take the T handle off the transmission shifter.

My fault, I didn't provide enough info.
I removed the TC bezel and looked down where the handle attaches, it looks simple enough.
Thanks everybody.
