Idle Air replacement

2K 4.0 Auto.
Are you supposed to reset the computer after you replace the idle air control motor/valve?
If yes, could it cause issues if you don't?

I would think you would un hook the battery while you are replacing something anyway, so the computer should at least be partially reset.
 
Generally when you make a change to the emissions system the computer will "slowly" learn you made the change. If you do a 'reset' it will force the re-learn a little faster.

That said, I just replaced my IAC and it still isn't idling properly after more than a week. My guess is the IAC isn't the problem, or that I got a defective replacement, but I will try to reset the computer before enything else.
