Is this normal wear and tear for a Lock-Right?? Seemed a bit excessive to me. The diff pin was just polished...those arent really scratches and are BARELY measurable for wear even with a pair of calipers. I did find 2 of the pins from the locker that were a little worn....the ends were a little battered, but all the springs were there and didnt find anything else that looked questionable. The teeth on the gears looked good...no real signs of wear except for the circled area in question. Both of the sides looked like this. Is the locker trashed...or will a new set of springs/pins maybe fix it? Any idea what would cause such wear?

doesn't look like much wear at all. the way the locker is designed is that as more and more torque is applied the cros pin trys to pry the two halfs of the locer apart forcing the lockright gears to engage. springs and pins break quite often so a new set isn't a bad idea.

as for your probs in the other post my first guess is that you have a vacume disco axle and it's not engaging/disengaging. check the vacume lines leading to the axle. if your axle is non disco the pass upper control arm will be made of sheat metal if it is a disco axle it will be a solid cast mount with what looks like a cuff around the axle tube.

from the mfg, are your tires at equal pressure. and are you sure that teh noise is from the locker not a u-joint or t-case

I bet Richmond Gear would sell you the parts:

Have you been running this awhile and just started having problems or is this a new/used thing. The failure to unlock unless you turn hard left sounds like a binding issue. Throw a tape around your tires and see if the diameter is close. I've see tires out of different molds be off enough to cause issues. Turning will usually cause them to spin close enough to the same speed to relieve the bind so the t-case will unlock. Turning left works and right doesn't? I would say that is a sign the left side tire is larger. It will spin slower in the side and the right side tire will spin faster as it arcs around.

Also this could have just shown up now because of the worn pins. The polishing on the locker wouldn't bother me unless you could feel a ridge where it is worn. Not hearing it in 2wd is because there is no power being applied to the pinion. That is what causes it to stay locked.

Are you running a hardned cross shaft?
