I've got a 96 XJ that has an intermittent problem. It will start and then quit. I can start again and keep my foot on the gas for a couple of minutes and then it runs well. The problem comes and goes. I have checked OBD codes and all I get is 12 which is battery has been disconnected in the last 50 key cycles. Not sure where to start looking. Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

IAC = Idle Air Control

That's the barrel-shaped appendage on the passenger side of the TB.
Before you start, disconnect the negative battery terminal. Disconnect the wiring harness (four wire plug) from the IAC solenoid, remove the two Torx screws that hold it in place, pull it out of the barrel, clean it, clean the inside of the barrel with a lint-free rag, and reassemble making sure that you don't damage or lose the rubber o-ring.
