I have a chance to get a very low milage 99GC engine. This one has the distibutorless ignition (COP coil on plug). I believe I can swap a distributor over and make things work. I just haven't seen it done personally. Anyone here done this yet?? I did a search but I may not have worded to get the response I was looking for.

Yes you can. I installed my '92 distributor in the '00 block that I used for my stroker without any problem.
