what is the correct volume of ATF for the AW4. The Haynes manual says 4 quarts, but a hot check shows 4 quarts to be well above the full mark on the dipstick. Thanks
4 quarts from a fresh rebuild with an empty torque converter? Most likely you drained the pan and though you got it all. Not by a long shot. If that would completely drain an auto, there would be no tranny flush specials or equpment.

I just did a quick change on mine (drain plug and refill on thru the dipstick) and I recommend you put in 3 qts, then do a hot check and add as necessary from there.
