fuel injector/maniforld "gunk"

There is a technical term, huh...gunk.

Anyway, the old injectors are out and the Mustang 5.0 are about to go in. When I pulled the injectors out of the manifold, I noticed a lot of "gunk" around the holes in the manifold. Is that ok, or should I clean it?

How do I clean it without dropping all that gunk into the manifold?

Thanks!

Re: fuel injector/manifold "gunk"

Anything you knock down there is gonna end up in the valve area, which may be bad. Sometimes it's better to leave well enough alone.
The only way I clean it, is with the manifold off and I make sure I clean it really well.
If It´s sticky, darned if I know, is it's a crust, I use a vacuum cleaner to suck it out as I clean.
