burning oil

Dont know why but when i am accelerating, i start to smell something that smells a lot like oil. It only happens when i get around 2000-2500 rpm or above and also when the engine is working hard(like up a hill). Just wondering if anyone had any clue what was wrong. I think my catylic converter needs replacing if that has anything to do w/ it. Thanks a lot for any help.

Hop underneath and see where you've got leaks. You could be smelling burnt ATF coming out of the fill tube, or it could be motor oil from the valve cover. rear main seal, or oil filter adapter...those ar all common spots.
