How to: Go into 4lo?

I know, it sounds stupid, Ive owned several 4X4, but this is my first Jeep. Im reading I have a 231 xfer, if Im correct.

The book says to be coasting at about 2-5 mph if Im not mistaken, and slide it into 4lo. I havent needed it, YET, but want to know whats the best way to engage to 4lo.

Stop, put the tranny in neutral, engage 4L.

Just like what it says in the owners manual. While barely moving put the transmission into neutral, then move the transfer case shift lever back until 4lo engages. I forget if you need to but I do the same to take it out of 4lo.

agreed. you can actually feel it engage that way.
