Engine Vin-id #'s

I just bought a new XJ, the odometer reads 188,000. But the motor looks new, nice paint and all the bolts look like that have been touched. Where would I find the vin# or id number on the block to see if it is the orignal block? It is a 1998 4.0.

Any help would be great.

You know the VIN# is on the bottom corner of the windshiled, driver's side... You could try Carfax, give em your VIN#, see what reports come up? I have no idea where the #s would be on the engine/block itself..

Engine Vin should be on the passenger side of the block towards the firewall and about halfway up. This is very visable with a flashlight.
