Well, durring another trip to the junkyard in search of the ever elusive 86-94 Jeep 5 spoke aluminum wheel, I stumbled upon a 70s era CJ-5. I'm not sure of the exact year but it looked older than most 80s CJs I've seen. I opened the hood to discover that the 258 was still there, and when I walked around to the back I discovered another 258 on the ground behind it. I was wondering if any one has any casting numbers ect. that could help me confirm weather one of these engines may have a 71-77 twelve counterweight crankshaft, for my (hopefully) upcomming stroker project.

Taking the oil pan off will tell you for sure. I look at the intake/exhaust and if they are siamesed then the crank is heavy. There are a few 1980s like that with fewer weights that early, but more than later. (head was lightened too with a larger combustion chamber. I have one in the stuff I'm taking to the Enumclaw, WA swap meet on Sept 25th)
