Modine Radiator Drain Plug

My original OEM radiator was leaking pretty bad, so I replaced it with a Modine. I got it in, and everything works alright...except for the drain plug. It's leaking. A piece of paper that came with the radiator says that I should not tighten it all the way or I will void my warranty. I don't want to void my warranty, but leakage is unacceptable and will not work for me. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Will I need to drain the coolant all out, first?

Would it be possible to...say...take the plug out, hold the drain shut, and put it back in with the plumber's dope or Teflon tape?

Had the exact same problem with mine a month ago.

I just pulled the plug quickly, had my wife plug the hole with her finger, and wrapped the threads with Teflon tape, then repalced in the same quick manner.

No probs since.
