When i switch the ignition off and pull out the key, the jeep stays running. Seems to me the ignition thing at the bottom of the column is to balme. Anybody have any expierience with this situation? 88xj, 5 speed. I tore the steering column apart 3 years ago to tighten the knuckle and never put back one small spring, is that the culprit? TIA

Switch should be behind the inst panel ...you'll need to drop the lower portion of the dash to get to the ignition switch..Switch could be the culprit,it should be in an adjustable bracket, there should be a metal rod going into the ignition switch and into the area where the key turns.
Possible that rod has come out oro got bent.
Does yours have the dimmer on the turn signal switch,if so both will be in the
same bracket...
NOTE adjust bracket down too far will cause problems with both the dimmer and the way the vehicle starts
Adjusting bracket too far up do the same
