gone fishin....
i've got the t-case apart, i went to test fit the new tailcone like it said to, but it hits the shift rod, the rod won't even fit in the hole on the tailcone, has anyone has this prob with the porc kit, it's a 231 from a 92/aw4, it sucks! i knew i should haved paid to get this done!
 
You may have to cut the shift rod down as they are longer on earlier years.

Hopefully Old_Man will weigh in here as he has more experience here than I.

The early tcases for the rigs with vacuum disco front axles have a shift rod that is about an inch longer. As long as you aren't going to use vacuum disco, you can cut it down. I figure since you are going to a SYE, that the disco is history.
 
yeah the rod is to long, but i don't have a vac-disco.
also, i got these rubber o-rings that look like little gears??
 
i hope they go on after the case is back together, i sealed it up already.
 
They go on the output shaft, after you have put the tailcone assembly back on.

It goes on before the yoke, then the yoke, then the yoke nut.

thats nice to know, i already had to open back up once, forgot to put the spring back on the rod!
 
yeah, only because it was stuck to the tool i picked up..:laugh3:
 
do you know how much i should cut off the rod?
