A/C Expansion Valve. Calling Renixers.

Hey guys I'm in the midst of rebuilding my A/C system on my 90. I forgot which way I took my expansion valve off. I got the new one on but my question is will it only thread on the correct way? So another way of putting it is which hole is towards the passenger side on an 87-90 XJ the big or small one? Gonna be taking it in to have it evacuated soon so I kinda need a quick answer. If anyone would check for me thatd be great.
