This week I am swapping a Currie 9" into my 88 xj. I absolutely refuse to go sans e-brake. is there an easy way to hook the brake up? I am using the explorer discs from currie. I'm thinking it's a simple matter of hooking up the cable.....but what the hell do I know?

I'm running a 9in, but dont have an e-brake hooked up yet!

You waiting less then 4 hours for a reply, I would give it alittle more time, most people are jsut getting off work and out west they still have a few hours, give it another 24 hours and see what people have to say!

Lokar makes an adapter that you can use to hook up your stock cables to the lever arm on the exploder brakes. If you don't want to slot them out or re-crimp a lug on your cables then you can buy some with this clevis at the end.

I've posted this info about half a dozen times.

what about if you want to use the Ebrake on 9" drums? There isn't a lever like on other drums, its a sleeved cable that runs into the backing plate.

Oh...do I need to get longer cables...or should I just get the whole universal kit from Lokar. I'm running an 8" Rockkrawler lift. So I get this straight..this is what I do?

1. get the Lokar universal kit with the included Explorer clevises, or....

2. Get the clevis's only and longer YJ cables....

I'm in the middle swapping in Crown Vic brakes for my D44 & am waiting on an ordered Lokar clevis kit. It's a near wash $ wise - the Lokar cables might be easier to use given the fiddling you have to do at the ebrake handle rod for the YJ cables.

I already have the YJ cables on my 44 & it looks like no sweat to keep those with the Exploder clevis's. Might have to cut a short pipe 'spacer' to go between the e-brake boss on the backing plate and the old YJ cable backing plate clips but doesn't look like it'll be a problem.
