3'' or 3.5'' compared to 5.5" lift

I purchased re 5.5" lift (its not the long arm) and my buddy just got done installing either a 3.5" or 3" lift and im not sure what brand but my question is are the installs the same only with larger springs and so on? Im asking this because he might help me install it and i want to know if he knows exactly whats required.

having extra help can't hurt. if he wants to help then let him, especially if hes lifted an XJ before. 5.5" is going to have more components but if hes done a 3" before he is surely familiar with the suspension.
