I'm putting an AW4/242 out of a `93 police package XJ into a 2x `92. The PP had a d30 and the `92 has the 8.25. What will I have to do to make the driveshaft work? I'd like to get the work done before I start the project. Thanx!

The pinion on the 8.25 is a little longer than a D30.So the shaft may be too long,And the 2wd shaft may have a different slip yoke(trans output V TC out put).You may want to visit a junkyard for the correct shaft,plenty out there.

Thanks for the reply Wayne. I have the dshaft off of the donor police package XJ, I assume I'll have to have it shortened? Anybody know joint to joint measure on that shaft?

I've got a 92 with the same specs. I will get a measurement of the rear shaft in the morning. Will post about this time tom. night. JIM.

Shaft length from COJ to COJ is 30" on my 92. HTH. JIM.
